If you can’t get enough of the holiday season, then allow us to (mentally) jet set you off to the famous Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt (Christmas market) where wooden booths boast traditional, handmade Christmas decorations, sweet treats, and more to get you into the holiday spirit. If that’s not enough, you just might encounter men dressed as the infamous Krampus, whip and all.

Baked Goods That *Sleigh* | Cooking is what makes the holidays so special to many, which is why the Nuremberg Christmas Market offers several booths with must-try German delicacies. Up on the leaderboard for sweets is the famous Nuremberg Lebküchen. Coming in all shapes and sizes and covered with chocolate, sugar, or almonds, Lebküchen is the epitome of German Christmas treats.

…As Images of Bratwurst Danced in their Heads | In the mood for something savory? We suggest that you pick up a plate of rostbratwurst. With 700 years of bratwurst making under its belt, Nuremberg prepares its rostbratwurst over an open beechwood fire and served in a roll with mustard, onions and/or sauerkraut for a snack you won’t soon forget. Hungry for more? Since rostbratwurst is only 6-8 inches long, people usually end up ordering three at a time!

Get into the Holiday Spirit(s) | When searching for a quintessential Christmas drink at the market, you can’t go wrong with glühwein, a mulled beverage that translates to “glow wine.” Served warm, this beverage keeps shoppers cozy as they stroll through the market. If you can’t make it to Nuremberg but would still like to enjoy a similar drink, check out our glühwein recipe and Mulling Spice Blend on our website!
