Replacing Sherry in Recipes
- Apple Cider
Sherry’s flavor can be replaced by the strong taste of apple cider. Use the same amount indicated in the recipe, and it should work. You can also use apple cider vinegar, but you have to dilute it with water beforehand. Just add a pinch of sugar to capture the sweetness.
Dry, red, or white wine are effective alcoholic substitutes for sherry. You can use it in equal measure. Rice wine is equally excellent as well. Some say the rice wine vinegar comes closest to sherry in terms of taste. It’s great because you can easily find it in a local supermarket.
