Spicy Chocolate Chili

Semi-sweet chocolate adds flavorful depth and richness to this spicy bean chili with 4 types of freshly ground dried red chiles and spices.


1 yellow onion, minced
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 stalk celery, diced
2 jalapenos, minced
2 tbsp RawSpiceBar's Chili Powder
2 red bell peppers, diced
1 (16 oz) can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 (16 oz) can diced tomatoes
1 lime, juice
2 oz semisweet chocolate (1/4 cup)
Kosher salt & pepper, to taste
Vegetable oil
Avocado, sour cream, cheese, cilantro, to top, optional



1. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add onions and saute, 5-6 minutes.

2. Add celery, bell peppers, garlic, salt, pepper and chili powder and saute, another 5-7 minutes.

3. Add black beans, tomatoes and lime juice and simmer on low, 20-25 minutes.

4. Stir in chocolate. When chocolate has melted, taste to adjust the salt and pepper. Simmer another 5-10 minutes and serve with toppings of choice. Enjoy!
